Program policy

Nondiscrimination, fair housing, and respectful review.

Calm Waters is committed to administering inquiries, applications, communications, and housing operations consistently with applicable fair-housing and nondiscrimination requirements.

Our approach

We do not make decisions based on protected characteristics prohibited by applicable law. Calm Waters accepts applications from adult women and men. Gender information is collected for housing administration and is not used as an automatic eligibility decision. Program design, eligibility standards, and occupancy practices are administered under the policies and legal requirements that apply to the specific housing arrangement.

Objective and explainable screening

Automated prescreening is limited to explicit, versioned, founder-approved objective criteria tied to the housing model. A clear failure may produce a recorded Not Eligible decision with a plain-language reason and other options. Ambiguous answers, conflicting information, accommodation or access issues, and free-text interpretation go to staff review rather than automatic adverse action.

Reasonable accommodations and access

An applicant may ask to discuss a reasonable accommodation or an access-related exception. A request does not guarantee that every requested change is reasonable or available, but it will be reviewed separately from a simple automated eligibility rule. Do not place medical records or highly sensitive health information in a general contact form.

Review and correction

If you believe a decision used inaccurate information or did not follow the published criteria, use the review/appeal option shown with the application status or contact Calm Waters. The original decision, review request, and any staff override remain in the application history.
