Yes.

At Calm Waters Independent Living, we do not check your credit score or use past evictions to screen you for Calm Waters-operated housing.

That means you do not need perfect credit to submit a Housing Request. You also do not need to assume that a past eviction automatically prevents you from being considered for independent shared housing.

Calm Waters Does Not Check Credit

Calm Waters does not require a minimum credit score for its housing.

We do not use a traditional credit check to decide whether someone can move into Calm Waters-operated housing.

So if your credit history includes collections, missed payments, high balances, little or no credit history, past financial hardship, or a low credit score, you can still submit a Housing Request.

Your credit score is not what determines whether you can request housing from Calm Waters.

What About a Past Eviction?

A past eviction does not automatically prevent you from requesting Calm Waters housing either.

Calm Waters does not use past eviction history as a screening requirement for its operated housing.

People experience housing problems for many reasons, and a previous housing situation does not necessarily describe someone's current circumstances.

The Housing Request focuses on your current housing needs and current situation.

What Does Calm Waters Look At Instead?

When you submit a Housing Request, the information that matters is much more practical.

Calm Waters needs to understand where you are looking for housing, when you need to move, your room preference, your current budget or payment source, whether the nonmedical independent-housing model matches what you need, and any housing-related accessibility needs that should be considered.

What Does "Independent Housing" Mean?

Calm Waters provides nonmedical independent shared housing.

Residents need to be able to live independently without Calm Waters providing continuous supervision, personal care, medication administration, skilled nursing, treatment, detoxification, or assisted-living services.

Needing housing is different from needing residential care.

Do You Need Employment?

Not necessarily.

Housing payments may come from different lawful sources depending on the actual housing arrangement. When you submit a request, provide accurate information about the payment source or budget you currently have.

The important question is not "Do you have perfect credit?" It is "What housing are you looking for, and what payment arrangement can realistically support it?"

What If You Have No Credit at All?

That is okay too.

Because Calm Waters does not use a credit check for its operated housing, having a thin credit file is not itself a reason to avoid submitting a Housing Request.

What If You Owe a Previous Landlord Money?

You can still submit a Calm Waters Housing Request.

Do not automatically disqualify yourself because of a previous housing problem. The purpose of the Housing Request is to understand your current housing situation and current housing needs.

What If Calm Waters Helps Me Find Housing Somewhere Else?

There is one important difference when Calm Waters is helping with housing navigation outside of Calm Waters-operated housing.

Another housing provider may have its own screening requirements. That provider may choose to consider credit, rental history, income, documentation, or other lawful criteria.

Calm Waters cannot change another provider's requirements or guarantee that an outside provider will accept an applicant.

But for Calm Waters-operated housing, the policy is straightforward:

No credit check. No minimum credit score. Past evictions are not used to screen applicants.

Don't Screen Yourself Out

If you need housing, do not decide that you are automatically disqualified because your credit is poor or because you experienced an eviction in the past.

Submit the Housing Request and let Calm Waters review your current housing needs.

Submitting a Housing Request begins the review process. It does not guarantee a particular room, current availability, or placement.
