A housing referral and a housing placement are not the same thing. A referral begins or advances the process; a placement is the actual housing outcome after the applicable steps are completed.
What Is a Housing Referral?
A referral transfers relevant housing information into a review or navigation process. It says that a person is looking for housing and provides the information currently known about that need.
What Is Housing Navigation?
Navigation is the work that can happen between identifying a housing need and reaching an actual housing opportunity. It may involve Calm Waters-operated housing, another housing option, or both.
What Is a Housing Placement?
Placement is the actual housing outcome. It occurs after the applicable review, verified housing option, terms, and move-in process result in the person moving into housing.
A Referral Is Not an Approval
The case manager supplies information and supports communication but does not make Calm Waters' final eligibility, accommodation, screening, room-assignment, acceptance, or placement decision.
A Referral Is Not a Room Reservation
Received, Reviewing, Screening Scheduled, or Availability Review are workflow statuses. They are not equivalent to a reserved room.
A Match Is Not Yet a Housing Offer
A possible match must still be verified for the actual property, room or bed, current availability, price, fees, payment terms, and applicable provider decision.
Outside Providers Make Their Own Decisions
A Calm Waters connection to another provider does not mean that provider has accepted the person.
About Calm Waters Housing
Statewide referral/navigation reach is separate from location-specific Calm Waters inventory. Referral does not equal placement.
Submit a Housing Referral
Submit a Calm Waters Housing Referral. A referral begins review; it does not guarantee a room, rate, acceptance, or placement.
